Which iPhones does Compact run on?
Compact is made for iPhone Duo and runs on any iPhone with iOS 27.1 or later. On iPhone Duo, folding it halfway gives the mirror one half and the controls the other. On other iPhones the controls float over the mirror.
Does Compact record or save what the camera sees?
No. Compact uses the front camera as your mirror. Nothing is recorded or saved, and what the camera sees never leaves your iPhone. The privacy policy has the details.
The mirror says Camera Access Needed
Compact can't show a mirror without the front camera. Tap Open Settings on that screen and turn on Camera for Compact.
How do I change the light?
In the controls, Light turns the ring on and off, Colour picks Daylight, Office or Evening, Intensity sets how bright it is, and Ring Width sets how wide the ring is.
Why did the light get dimmer on its own?
When iPhone gets warm, Compact eases the light back toward ordinary white, and slows the camera and face tracking, until it cools.
The light's colour looks different from room to room
That's True Tone. iPhone adjusts the display's white to the room, and the ring shifts with it. To see the presets exactly as set, turn True Tone off in Settings, under Display & Brightness.
What does Lock Camera Colour do?
It keeps the camera from cancelling the light's colour. With it off, the camera corrects warm light back toward neutral, so Evening can look much like Daylight in the mirror. It's on by default.
The loupe isn't following my face
Check that Lock Framing is off: a locked loupe holds still until you unlock it. The loupe also needs to see your face. If your face leaves the mirror, the loupe waits where it was and picks you up again when you're back.
Why is the loupe soft at high magnification?
The loupe enlarges the same 1080p picture the mirror shows. At 4× there is less detail to enlarge, so it softens.
Compact asks me to turn my phone around
Folded halfway and set down with the camera in the lower half, the mirror would look up at you from the table. Turn iPhone Duo around so the camera is at the top.
Does Compact keep my settings?
Yes. Your light, loupe and mirror settings are saved on your iPhone and are there the next time you open Compact.
